Character Builder
The Character Builder defines the steps a player goes through when creating a new character in the app.
Steps
| Step | When it appears | Can be removed |
|---|---|---|
| Select identity | One for each Identity marked as Required | No, it follows the Required option |
| Select class | When Classes are enabled | No, it follows the content type |
| Profile | Always | No |
| Custom step | When you add one | Yes |
| Summary | Always, as the last step | No |
Drag the steps to reorder them. Summary is always last and cannot be moved.
When a step becomes available later, for example after enabling Classes, it is added just before Summary.
The preview on the right shows the selected step as the player sees it.
Profile
- Starting attributes (optional): the numeric and dice attributes a player sets while building their character, such as ability scores.
- Instructions: text shown to the player on this step. Instructions support Macros, so a macro such as
[3d6]rolls dice in place. Use this to describe how players roll for their stats.
Custom steps
Add a custom step for anything else a player does while creating a character, such as choosing starting equipment or a background feature.
Each custom step has a Name, an Icon, a Flavour text, and an Effect.
The effect is applied when the player moves to the next step, and undone if they go back. Later steps can rely on the changes made by earlier ones.
